Would you like to join an international team of students and work on solutions to one of today’s greatest challenges – a sustainable food system? Apply for this year’s hackathon organized within the Aurora network at the University of Naples Federico II.

- On-site session in Naples: 20–24 October 2025 (a 5-day workshop in the Italian metropolis)
What the hackathon is about
The theme of this year’s hackathon is “Re-thinking Food Systems in the Anthropocene” – exploring new ways to ensure fair, sustainable, and resilient food production and distribution in the context of climate change. Participants will work in interdisciplinary teams to design systemic solutions that combine ecological resilience, social justice, and economic feasibility.
This year’s edition will focus particularly on urban agriculture and permaculture in the Neapolitan context – with some activities taking place directly in a community garden in Parco Viviani.
Who can apply
- Students at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels from universities in the Aurora alliance (including Palacký University).
- Open to a wide range of disciplines – from the humanities, sociology, and design, through natural sciences and IT, to agriculture and health.
