U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings

Palacký University has already appeared in the U. S. News Best Global Universities Rankings in 2014, placing at #488. In 2015, UP stepped up to the 473rd position. Only three Czech universities represented the country in the 2014 rankings, while in 2015 four made the grade.

In 2016 Palacký University achieved the 494th position, but since the previous year, another 250 universities had been put on the list, and even the monitored indicators had changed. In the national comparison, UP had stepped up one position and was the second after Charles University. From the Czech Republic only six universities made it to the top 1000.

There are 2,000 universities in the most recent rankings released in 2022, 250 more than last year. Out of the 2,165 institutions from more than 90 countries, Palacký University was ranked 611^th, and 253^rd in the European ranking. Within the Czech Republic, Palacký University is ranked 3^rd, behind the second Masaryk University and the first Charles University.

In the Subject Rankings, UP was included in 7 fields, and in two of them it was ranked for the first time. These are Ecology and Physical Chemistry. Other subjects in which it has been ranked in previous years are Biology and Biochemistry, Chemistry, Clinical Medicine, Physics and Botany and Zoology.

The rankings are based on data and metrics provided by Clarivate Analytics InCites^TM (previously Thomson Reuters) research analytics solutions as well as on data submitted by the universities themselves. The top universities rankings employ 13 indicators that measure their academic research performance and international collaboration. Similarly to the THE rankings, the “reputation survey” - the opinions and evaluations of academics from all over the world - is also taken into account.
