Karel Pacák

A native of České Budějovice and a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at Charles University (1984), Professor Pacák works since 1991 at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda as head of the Department for Clinical Neuroendocrinology. His research team put into practice new biochemical and imaging techniques that represent a breakthrough for the diagnostics and localization of rare neuroendocrine tumors, pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma in particular. He became a world-renowned expert on this disease in children and adults. He is also the world's most quoted author in this area of research. So far he published more than 400 texts in professional journals and over one hundred chapters in medical monographs.
